Prof. Sylvester Kimaiyo
Professor of Internal Medicine at Moi University School of Medicine, Eldoret. Clinical Pharmacology Fellowship Training (2000 to 2002) at Indiana University. Coming back to Kenya he worked in HIV clinics and later became the Chief of Party of various USAID awards (2002 to date) as well as the AMPATH Executive Director for Care. He has overseen all aspects of AMPATH since its inception. AMPATH Leading with Care is short for the Academic Model Providing Access to Healthcare, created through the partnership between Moi University School of Medicine, Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital Eldoret, Kenya, and a consortium of US Universities led by Indiana University, now involving 17 North American Academic Institutions. AMPATH has been involved in providing comprehensive care and support to people living with HIV/AIDS for the past 22 years. Now also a leader in Primary Health Care and NCDs and is a research and training powerhouse.
AMPATH current USAID awards are USAID AMPATH Uzima, USAID Dumisha Afya and USAID 4TheChild among over 200 other grants in Research Care and Training.
Prof S Kimaiyo has contributed to over 90 publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
